Food

The Rosy barb is an omnivorous species that will eat worms, insects and crustaceans. They will also accept a variety of flake foods in the aquarium.

Sexing

The female Rosy barb will appear to be drabber in color. The male will exhibit more of the pinkish coloring and black edges on his fins.

Breeding

This egg scattering fish will lay their eggs in densely planted areas. Once the parents are finished spawning, remove them from the tank to prevent them from devouring their eggs. Hundreds of eggs are laid and can take up to 36 hours to hatch. It will take another 6 days for the fry to become free swimming.

Lifespan

Rosy barbs can live for up to 5 years.

Puntius conchonius inhabits the lakes and streams of Asia in countries such as India, Pakistan, and Nepal.
