Food and feeding

Yellow lepturus cichlid is a very voracious eater and will compete for food all of the time. It will accept shrimp pellets, cichlid pellets and quality flake. Include some spirulina flake in the diet to keep the fish well conditioned.

Origin

Africa; Yellow lepturus cichlids are endemic to Lake Malawi.

Sexing

When mature, the males will be larger than the females with a more intense colouration, especially at spawning time.

Breeding

Not a great deal is known about the breeding habits of Buccochromis rhoadesii, it is believed to follow the same mouth brooding pattern as other Malawi cichlids.

Lifespan

The expected life span for Yellow lepturus cichlid is 10-12 years.
