Food

The Congo Tetra is omnivorous and will accept a variety of foods such as insects, worms, crustaceans and veggies.

Sexing

Males are more brightly colored than females. They also have longer caudal and dorsal fins.

Breeding

These egg scatterers are bred successfully when the parents are taken from the aquarium once the eggs are fertilized and layed. The fry take a long time to grow when compared to the growth rate of other fish such as cichlids.

Lifespan

The Congo Tetra will live approximately 5 years long.

Origin

The Congo Tetra is endemic to western Africa in the Congo River, just as the name suggests.
