The males have elaborate fins and bright colors unlike the females which have dull color and plain fins.

Breeding

This dwarf cichlid is an egg layer. The female will display for the male and vice versa. A small amount of approximately 50 eggs are layed at a time. The Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid will exhibit great parenting behavior as they keep all predators at bay.

Lifespan

Cockatoo dwarf cichlid can live for approximately 3-5 years in captivity.
